Velayudham (English: The Ultimate Weapon) is a 2011 Indian Tamil-language superhero film written and directed by M. Raja.[2] It stars Vijay in the lead titular role opposite Genelia D'Souza, with Abhimanyu Singh, Hansika Motwani, Saranya Mohan and Santhanamin supporting roles. The film revolves around a villager who arrives in the city to collect money and is persuaded by a journalist to take on the disguise of Velayudham, a superhero, to eradicate the evils pertaining within the society such as corruption, prostitution, and terrorism. This film is a remake of the 2000 Telugu film Azad.
Velayudham released on 26 October 2011 clashing with 7aum Arivu, and emerged as a commercial success.[3] The film was later dubbed into Hindi as Super Hero Shahenshah in 2013 by Wide Angle Media Pvt Ltd.
